Autumn is upon us already.
Her official arrival doesn't occur until the 23rd, but she's here in full force at my house.
The leaves are falling and some are turning their colors already.
The air has a crisp chill to it.
We lit up a bonfire yesterday and made three s'mores...
we would have made more, but I wasn't prepared and
only found three large marshmallows in the house.
The cats are in the trees...
and they are tumbling in the brush,
pretending to be ferocious beasts.

The geese are beginning their journey south and they
are always a wonderful spectacle to see and hear.
The honeybees are loading up on nectar from the sedum hoping to get every
last drop back to the hive before a long winter sets in...
As are the fuzzy bumblebees.
These guys are my absolute favorite.
Fat and jolly enough to be the Santa of the colony.
The poison ivy is in full throttle..bumpy and starting to turn red.
Red berries are bright on the trees.
I'm not sure what these are, but they remind me
of Christmas time and they make my heart smile.
The acorns are aplenty and just waiting for little hands
to pick them up and to be crammed into pockets.
For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together.
For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.
